Travel Fellowship and Follow-on Grants Program
Under the 2011 Armenian Travel Fellowship and Follow-on Grants Program (TFP), the National Foundation for Science & Advanced Technology (NFSAT) and the U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF Global) will sponsor, on a competitive basis, research visits to the United States for young Armenian scientists and engineers thirty-five years old and younger. Applicants may plan a visit of up to three months in duration and request up to $8,000 to cover transportation costs, living allowances, visa fees, health insurance, and other travel-related expenses. Upon return to Armenia the NFSAT grantees will be eligible to apply for follow-on awards of $5,000 each for a period of up to one year to continue developing collaboration with their U.S. partners. NFSAT and CRDF Global will support up to 10 (ten) Travel Fellowship grantees. Travel may be planned to begin and end within the period from 15 January 2012 to 15 June 2012. Applicants may propose to work on existing research or start new projects during the research visit to the United States. Proposals are due to the NFSAT and CRDF Global no later than 6:00 pm Yerevan time on Friday, September 16, 2011. The competition results will be announced no later than December 15, 2011.

Travel Support Program
On a competitive basis the NFSAT will provide up to US$2000 each special support for Armenian scientists in all areas of basic and applied sciences to participate in International Scientific conferences and engineering professional societies meetings in the United States and Europe. NFSAT will cover the transportation expenses only to Armenian researchers demonstrating intense interest by the organizers for their participation in scientific conference. In accordance with the NFSAT’s principles of operation, support for the proposed activity will be determined exclusively by the scientific merit of applications.

ANSEF Research Grants
The Armenian National Science & Education Fund invites grant applications for the 2012 competition. Applicants are to submit their applications through the ANSEF website portal, accessed from the top bar of the ANSEF website (www.ansef.org) or directly through the link ansef.heroku.com . The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2011. Competition results will be announced by January 1, 2012.
European Research Council Starting Grant
ERC Starting Grants are designed to support researchers (Principal Investigators) at the stage of which they are starting or consolidating their own independent research team or programme. The objective is to provide appropriate and adequate support excellent researchers, whatever their nationality, located in or moving to the EU Member States and Associated Countries. The ERC is particularly keen to encourage excellent proposals which involve the establishment of a new research activity in the EU or the associated countries by a Principal Investigator who is moving from a third country4 into the EU or the associated countries.
Candidates should have between 2 and 12 years post doctoral experience. Candidates will be divided into Starters (2 -7 years) and Consolidators (over 7 years). The budget will cover the applicant's salary and funding for a small team of people plus normal research expenses.
- Up to 1.5M euros available for each award
- Extra 0.5M euros (max) for applicants' moving from a third (non-EU) country
